Wasn’t really that happy with the earlier version of the plugin, so I modified the mpcinfo-Sources to compile as a native Python plugin, thus eliminating the need for a DLL wrapper. This marks the my first time with the Python/C-API. Quite convenient.
The new version can be downloaded here: MPCinfo 1.3.1
There used to be C++ sources for the .pyd file and some instructions included in the archive, but I unfortunately lost the source and the original archive, so you’ll have to make do with just the essentials.
Hey, I’ve been using this script for a few months (works great btw) and I figured I’d drop by and say thanks for writing it
Hi, finally i found some mpc plugin for xchat, but when i load it (windows 764 bits) Xchat just crash, i thought that its maybe because the plugin is 3 years old, is there any way you could fix it? Thanks anyway.
same problem as sadnem, it just crashes. anything you can do?
Hi, it appears not to be compatibile with newest xchat (python plugin) version? Can you look at it once more please?
Thanks.
jay: That is highly likely as the .pyd object file was linked against Python 2.5 and must be recompiled for new Python versions. Unfortunately, I no longer have the sources for the module, so it’s either leave it or rewrite it. I’ll see what I can do.
I’d really love to have this plugin work again. Hell, I’d even be willing to donate or something if you were to rewrite it again.
btw, are you an author of the original code, or is someone else? it just seem little strange that you couldnt/cannot rewrite it
either way good luck.. looks like more people would appreciate it
jay: I wrote this plugin back in winter 2006. A while later, my host decided to lose a few of its harddisks without any chance of recovery, which left me with some essential files missing. One of these files, unfortunately, was this plugin and accompanying C++ source files. Since I had switched local installations a few times since, I thought these files lost for good. Now, I just realized that the Internet Wayback Machine has a few backup copies, so you could get the original archive from here: http://web.archive.org/web/20080118041516/http://sector-5.net/archives/mpcinfo-x-chat-plugin-take-2/.
I’ll see if I can just compile this for Python 2.6/2.7 with newer Platform SDK libraries, which may or may not work.
after i switched to win7 x64 and mpchc x64 script stopped working
, i hope when you’ll update script it’ll start working
I recompiled the sources using the most recent Windows Platform SDK, and it no longer works (the MPC process is not found). This is either due to changes to the Platform SDK, to MPC-HC, or both. I really have no idea about COM in general, so fixing this is unlikely. I suggest looking for alternatives.
Yes, fortunately there is an alternative that at least works. mpc plugin is included in xchat-wdk.
actually, i like this script, and yes, i already try xchat wdk which is come with mpcinfo build, but it i just don’t like it, especially “in media player classic” title. it’s really annoying.
